Sustainable Practices in Hotels

Hospitality sector is becoming sustainable now as many of the hospitality brands started sustainable practices in order to develop their overall operations and also to create a good brand image because now the customers are much concern about the environment and its resources. Hospitality sector greatly impacts the environment because of water usage and energy consumption as well. But in these days many hotels started to produce their own energy through other sources like wind, solar and they are also focusing on recycling and reuse.

How Sustainability Impacts Hospitality?

Cheaper and Effective

The trend of recycling, reuse and reducing the waste directly contributes in the savings of cost. Moreover, green operational procedures are cheaper and green buildings use less energy than a conventional building or hotel. The best example of this is Proximity Hotel as this hotel is using 39.2% less energy than a normal hotel building.

Positive Impact on Guests

People are now more concern about the safety of environment as they want to be a part of green operations. If a hotel is using green practices then more number of customers will be attracted as they want to feel like home while staying at hotel, so the provision of same kind of greenery all around as they are having at home leads to the customer satisfaction, second these satisfied customers will spread positive word of mouth about hotel which will increase the goodwill and also contributes to more occupancy.

Improve Brand Image

Sustainable practices also help in improving brand image as they attract talent and in this case numbers speak. In a research done by Shelton Group it is clearly described that 55% of the manpower of United States would prefer to work with the companies and organisations which are socially responsible. Even 70 to 83 per cent millennials stated that they will stay loyal to the company which is using green operations.

Incentives by Government

Government is also helping the brands which are adopting and using sustainable practices as it provides them financial grants, discounts on premium insurance and also provide tax write offs.

In order to protect our earth we all have to take a step forward.
