Hospitality sector is adopting many new things in these days and use of smart technology is one of them. Many new equipment, gadgets and techniques came into use which are equipped with latest technology and are more convenient for customers.

  • Robots (A Machine in Place of Humans)

Some of the hospitality brands started using robots in place of humans. Many hotels shifting towards the idea of self service and this is the main cause behind the use of robots. Even robots are more accurate, fast and they are cost effective as well. Moreover, robots are more flexible than humans because they can work for 24 hours continuously and we just have to charge them instead of paying salary.

Examples:

· Henn-na Hotel situated in Nagasaki, Japan is the first hotel in the world where robots are used for check-in, check-out, and front desk service.

· Hilton also started to use robots as, a robot named as ‘Connie’ is used as concierge.

  • Smart Rooms

Concept of smart rooms is in trend these days and these smart rooms are equipped with latest technology in order to provide more comfort to guest. They have facilities like light adjustment, music controls, air conditioning and temperature through tablets and mobile devices. A guest can do all these things while lying down on his bed and while sitting on sofa as well. Even front desk can adjust room temperature on their system according to the preference of guest while checking them in and this thing saves electricity also.

  • Mobile Apps

Hospitality brands like Marriott Hotels, The Ritz- Carlton and Conrad Hotels have their own mobile apps which are used by guests to check-in and other services like in room dining orders, booking for spa sections, requesting the list of amenities they want in their room before arriving there and also transport arrangements. They are more convenient for customers because they do not have to stand in a queue for checking in and their time is also saved.

  • Digitized Room Keys

Guest can assess their rooms in hotel with their smart phones means they do not need any key to enter in the room. A person can download the mobile app of a particular hotel brand having the facility of digital key, can skip the check in process and directly goes to the room booked by him/her.

Digital key was launched by Hilton in 2015 and now a guest having Hilton Honors app can take the advantage of this facility.
